In ThinkFAST, you are transported to a virtual medical training center where you are taught to recognize and properly diagnose a stroke patient in VR. According to the World Health Organization, strokes are the number two killer worldwide, and the timely recognition, diagnosis and treatment of a stroke is vital.
The internationally accepted first line of diagnosis for a potential stroke victim is the F.A.S.T. test (Face, Arms, Speech, Time). ThinkFAST presents a highly realistic virtual stroke patient to the user. The floating robotic host serves as a virtual assistant as you learn to properly administer the potentially lifesaving F.A.S.T. test.
We believe that interactive VR will soon disrupt training and education and ThinkFAST is an early look at how medical training can benefit from this ground-breaking technology. Not only bringing massive cost savings to the market, but more importantly, greatly increasing the accessibility of critical medical training.
Many training simulators now rely on 2D video screens with non-intuitive user interfaces that rely on the user’s imagination to abstract their experience into a real-world scenario. ThinkFAST offers an intuitive, natural and more realistic training experience due to key new technologies combined for the first time:
- Untethered mobile 6 Degrees of Freedom movement tracking allows the user to examine the patient by moving in the virtual environment as they move their feet in the real world.
- A custom Leap Motion integration enables users to interact with their training environment and the virtual patient by simply moving their hands in front of them.
- The F.A.S.T. test is administered verbally and ForwardXP’s proprietary Voice User Interface technology allows the user to speak to the virtual patient just as they would to a human patient.
